Heat Press Instructions
A heat press delivers the most consistent, professional results. Even pressure distribution and accurate temperature control mean your transfers adhere cleanly every time.
Pre-heat your press to 293 degrees F. Place the garment on the lower platen and smooth out any wrinkles. Position your transfer face-down on the fabric. Close the press with medium-to-firm pressure for 8 seconds. Open and peel the carrier film immediately while hot. For best durability, re-press for 3-5 seconds using a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the exposed transfer.
Cricut EasyPress Instructions
The EasyPress works well for DTF transfers but delivers less pressure than a heat press. Compensate by pressing slightly longer and applying firm, even downward pressure with both hands.
Set the EasyPress to 293 degrees F. Place a hard, flat surface underneath your garment (not an ironing board). Lay the transfer face-down. Press firmly with both hands for 10 seconds, applying steady downward pressure. If the transfer is larger than the EasyPress plate, press in sections β overlap each pass slightly. Peel hot and re-press with parchment for 3-5 seconds.
Iron Instructions
An iron is the least reliable method for applying DTF transfers, but it can work in a pinch. The key is maximum heat, firm pressure, and a hard surface underneath β not an ironing board.
Set your iron to the highest heat setting (cotton/linen). Turn steam OFF. Place the garment on a hard, flat surface like a wooden cutting board or countertop β ironing boards absorb pressure and won't work well. Lay the transfer face-down. Press the iron down firmly for 12-15 seconds, moving slowly across the entire design. Do not glide quickly. Peel the film while hot. If any areas lift, re-press those spots for another 5-10 seconds.
Two steps that make the difference between a transfer that lasts 10 washes and one that lasts 50+.
Instant Peel (Hot Peel)
Ink Masters DTF transfers are designed for instant peeling. As soon as the press opens, peel the carrier film back at a steady angle β don't yank it. If the transfer lifts at the edges, lay it back down and press for another 2-3 seconds. Peeling while hot gives you the smoothest finish with no texture from the carrier film.
Second Press (Recommended)
After peeling the carrier film, place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the exposed transfer and press again for 3-5 seconds at the same temperature. This second press sets the adhesive deeper into the fabric fibers and produces a smoother, more durable finish that holds up through dozens of wash cycles.
How you care for your pressed garment determines how long the transfer lasts. Follow these guidelines for maximum durability.
Wait 24 Hours
Allow the adhesive to fully cure before the first wash. Washing too soon weakens the bond between the transfer and the fabric.
Wash Inside Out
Turn the garment inside out before every wash. Use cold water and a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and harsh detergents.
No High Heat Drying
Tumble dry on low or hang dry. High heat in the dryer can cause the transfer to crack, peel, or fade prematurely over time.

Most pressing problems come down to temperature, time, or pressure. Here's how to fix the most common issues.
Transfer lifting or peeling at edges
Usually caused by insufficient pressure or temperature. Increase pressure and make sure the garment is on a flat, hard surface. Re-press for an additional 3-5 seconds focusing on the edges.
Colors look faded or washed out
This can happen if the temperature is too high or press time is too long. Stick to 293 degrees F and 8 seconds. Also check that you're pressing on the correct side β the design should face the fabric.
Transfer cracking after washing
Usually caused by high heat drying. Always tumble dry on low or hang dry. Make sure you waited 24 hours before the first wash and the garment was washed inside out.
Carrier film won't peel cleanly
The press wasn't hot enough or didn't get enough time. Lay the transfer back down and press for another 3-5 seconds. Peel at a steady angle while hot β don't yank straight up.
Uneven adhesion or spotty areas
This typically means uneven pressure. Check that there are no wrinkles or seams under the transfer area. Use a heat-press pillow for areas near zippers, buttons, or seams.
